Zero drop - Narrower toe space - Light - Stiffer and thicker sole - VEGAN
Merrell’s leadership in the barefoot category continues with the Trail Glove 7. Key updates include more natural foot positioning for a true minimalist feel, a Vibram® EcoStep outsole that wraps the foot to maximize grip and connection, and a minimal midsole made of FloatPro Foam™, our best midsole foam. Within the midsole, we also integrated our FLEXconnect® dual-directional flex-grooves for enhanced ground connection. Total stack height on these shoes is 14mm. Return to barefoot with the Trail Glove 7.
PETRI'S PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Trail Glove must not be confused with the Vapor Glove even though they look very similar! These are shoes with very different characteristics. The Trail Glove is stiffer, the sole is thicker and the toe space is narrower than the Vapor. When the terrain gets heavier and rougher, Trail's off-road shoe characteristics start to emerge compared to Vapor - on the other hand, when walking on grass (in easy terrain), the Trail Glove's ground feel loses in the same comparison.
On the scale of pure barefoot shoe - hybrid model - minimalist shoe (thick-soled barefoot shoe), I count the Trail Glove in the "hybrid shoe" category, or with a sole thickness of up to 14 mm, in the thick-soled barefoot shoe category.
Suitability for barefoot beginners
Trail Glove is clearly a shoe that more allows heel-stepping and is therefore safe to buy even for a beginner barefooter. If you don't have a very wide foot and are a barefoot beginner, this is a good first purchase for you as a barefoot shoe. However, it is worth noting that the Trail Glove does not work for those with wider feet.
Suitability for experienced barefooters
For the more experienced, the Trail Glove is a good addition to thinner barefoot shoes, because it is a stress-free (read: you are not exercising your legs while walking) shoe to play with even on a longer shopping trip on an urban platform - maybe a barefoot guru might be looking for something like that sometimes? However, it is worth noting that the Trail Glove does not work for those with wider feet.
