FEATURES
CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE
NEVER CHOOSE YOUR "OLD SIZE" if you haven't worn the exact same shoe before! Sizes vary between different models even from the same manufacturer and the size of the shoes you've worn before may have been wrong in size, etc. - there are many possibilities for error.
Also, note that manufacturers' own size charts are often far from accurate. Also, too often only one size chart is used even though the same sizes for different shoe models actually differ from each other, etc.
To find the right size, do the following -
1) First check the length of your feet according to the following instructions. Measure with an assistant if possible (Note! Read the shoe model description below to make sure that you are choosing the right shoe for yourself!):
2) Add about 1-1.5 (2) cm of room to the measurement of your longer foot you got above to get the required shoe size (inner length of the shoe).
3) Choose the right size from the table below, but also take into account the things below the table! We have checked the inner dimensions of this model at PETRI'S BAREFOOT as follows -
Altra Timp 6 Man - inner lengths:
EU 37 - 24,0 cm
EU 37,5 - 24,5 cm
EU 38 - 24,7 cm
EU 38,5 - 25,2 cm
EU 39 - 25,6 cm
EU 40 - 26,0 cm
EU 40,5 - 26,5 cm
EU 41 - 26,8 cm
4) Check the length of your foot again. The longer foot is the one you are looking for! The correct size rarely matches the full EU size.
5) Finally, if you can't decide, you can always order two pairs of shoes of the same model for fitting. However, remember to return the wrong size soon because someone is probably also waiting for them, thank you!
PETRI'S PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
We have now included the Altra Timp 6 in our collection as an alternative for those who want a extra cushioned (30 mm) trail shoe. The Timp rolls quite well on hard streets and roads also due to the more generous toe lift in the front of the shoe, which our other trail models have less or none at all.
Timp is especially for those people who run a lot like ultrarunners. The sole has good grip and Timp also works great as a winter running shoe on snow. Even in light rain, the shoe does not absorb water from puddles very easily. We do not recommend the Timp as a leisure shoe, because it has unnecessary cushioning for a casual shoe.
The Timp 6 has the average width for Altra shoes. So it fits a normal-width foot well and is fine for slightly narrower or wider feet. If you're more of a deviation from the norm, check out Altra's other trail models.
On a scale of pure barefoot shoe - hybrid model - thick-soled barefoot shoe, I would put the Timp 6 in the "thick-soled barefoot shoe" category.
Suitability for barefoot beginners
The Timp 6 has some unnecessary cushioning even for beginners, you don't need a 30 mm sole to start using barefoot shoes. On the other hand, if you run a lot, then the Timp could be your first "barefoot" if you want maximum cushioning from the shoe.
With these shoes, you can safely learn to know how the natural zero drop in the shoe affects your movement and on the other hand how the wide toe space frees up your toes. Depending on your own experience, you can get thin soled barefoot shoes after a few months when you have used the Altras first and preferably strengthened the muscles, tendons and fascia of your feet with appropriate foot training.
Suitability for experienced barefooters
If you run a lot of kilometers (like ultrarunners), the Timp 6 is a shoe worth considering if you want more cushioning when training. Timp provides the same important things as real barefoot shoes in the form of zero drop and good toe space, and there's no unnecessary arch support either.
